Duluth community members invited to vigil for migrants at southern border

DULUTH, MN — Multiple vigils are being held Friday night by activists who are concerned for the health of migrants at the U.S. and Mexico border.

In Duluth, Lights for Liberty, an event organized by a grassroots coalition, will be held at Peace United Church of Christ on N. 11th Avenue East from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The group says they are calling for the release of migrants being held in detention facilities around the country.

In Hayward, Up North Engaged, a northern Wisconsin coalition of concerned citizens, says they will also hold a candlelight vigil.

Their event will be held at Shues Pond Park at 8 p.m. Friday, and will feature Wisconsin Representative Beth Meyers, as well as a representative from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office.

We’ll have the latest on the vigils tonight on the CBS 3 Duluth News at 10.
