AAR, DEDA extend aircraft maintenance hangar lease for 20 years

DULUTH, MN — AAR, an aviation services provider to commercial airlines and governments around the world, will stay in Duluth for the next two decades.

AAR, the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA) and the City of Duluth have announced the lease for AAR’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operation in Duluth has been renewed.

In late May, a resolution authorizing the lease agreement was approved to amend the original lease agreement for an additional 20 years.

AAR employs 300 people in Duluth, and city officials say with the lease renewal, more jobs are expected to come to the area.

DEDA and AAR started a lease agreement in June of 2012, with AAR leasing 152,300 square feet of the 189,000 square feet MRO building that was built to provide commercial aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services.

On Thursday, officials from various companies around Duluth will give a news conference at the AAR hanger facility at 1:30 p.m.
