SUPERIOR, WI — The case involving a now-former Ashland Police officer, who allegedly stole a car is now being handled in Douglas County.
District Attorney Mark Fruehauf said Wednesday, he’s agreed to act as special prosecutor on the matter, which was referred to him from Ashland County.
You’ll recall back in April, a car was reported stolen from Ashland.
Police recovered the undamaged vehicle, and say surveillance video identified the alleged thief as an Ashland police officer.
The officer, who still hasn’t been named, was put on leave, and later retired.
Fruehauf says he’ll be looking at the case to determine whether or not criminal charges will be filed.
