Guilty verdict reached in 2018 Orr bank robbery

ORR, MN– A verdict has been reached in the 2018 robbery of American Bank in Orr.

58-year-old William Lindeman of Orr was found guilty of two counts of 1st degree aggravated robbery on Thursday.

On March 14, 2018, just before noon, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery at the American Bank in Orr.

According to authorities, Lindeman entered the bank and was reported to have used pepper spray on two bank employees during the robbery. He then reportedly fled the bank on an ATV with an unknown amount of cash.

The bank employees were brought to the Cook Hospital and treated for pepper spray exposure.

A bystander called 911 and reported seeing an ATV enter a location just North of Orr after the robbery.

Authorities responded to the address and took Lindeman into custody without incident.

Lindeman was believed to be the only person involved in the robbery.

A jury trial took place at the St. Louis County District Court in Hibbing.

Lindeman remains in custody at the St. Louis County Jail without bail with his sentencing date set for October 17 in Hibbing.

The incident was investigated by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the FBI.
