ORR, MN — An auto business in Orr, Minnesota is destroyed after an early Monday morning fire.
According to the Friends of the Northland FireWire Facebook page, firefighters were called to Wally’s Auto Service on Highway 53 on reports of a fire around 1:45 a.m.
When crews arrived, Orr Fire Chief Dallas Johnson says the building was engulfed in flames.
Crews from Orr, Cook, Bois Forte, Buyck and Crane Lake remained on the scene as of 3:14 a.m.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the auto business were deemed a total loss and no injuries were reported.
The aftermath was a rude awakening for community members Tuesday, including Morgan Malecha, who has worked at the three generation auto repair shop since she was 14-years-old.
Malecha says she’s devastated to see one of the town’s only business turned to ash.
“I’m really sad,” Malecha says. “It’s hard to look at, and I know I’ve said that a lot, but it’s really hard to look at. That’s the only thing that’s going to pop into my mind. It’s insane. It’s hard.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the MN State Fire Marshals Office.
