EDGAR, WI– There are now three Republicans in the race for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District seat.
According to a press release Sunday night, Michael Opela Sr. said he is running because he wants to listen to the 7th District constituents and carry out their message in Washington D.C.
The seat was vacated when former Rep. Sean Duffy announced his resignation from Congress. He stepped down ahead of the birth of his ninth child, who is expected to be born with a heart condition.
The special primary to fill the 7th District seat will be held December 30, with the special election planned for January 27, 2020.
No Democrats have officially announced their candidacy for the 7th District seat.
