We are in for another warm and windy day across the Northland. We’ll see mostly sunny skies throughout the day but clouds increase into the afternoon as a weak low moves in to eastern North Dakota. Winds trend S around 10-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Highs climb back into the upper 60s to mid 70s, but slightly cooler up the North Shore.
The weak area of low pressure slides across northern Minnesota, and will bring a chance of scattered showers. The best time will be between 8 PM and 2 AM, mainly on the Minnesota side. Skies will otherwise remain mostly cloudy with a SSE to SE wind around 5-15 mph. Lows fall back into the upper 40s to mid 50s.
That weak low pressure moves out, but another, much stronger one, will track towards the Northland. This is the low we have been watching the past few days. We’ll see mostly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning, then the rain chances return into the afternoon and will continue throughout the night. An isolated thunderstorm or two can’t be ruled out as well. Winds trend SE around 5-15 mph. Highs top out in the upper 50s to mid 60s, but slightly cooler lakeside. Lows fall back into the 40s and 50s, with the cooler temperatures west.
The low will center itself across northern Minnesota by the afternoon Friday. We’ll see rain showers scattered throughout the day, but models show a dry slot moving in Friday night, so that may be some good news. We’ll see a breezy S wind around 10-25 mph. High temperatures will come just after midnight, sitting in the 50s but will fall throughout the afternoon as the colder air moves in. We’ll bottom out in the low to mid 30s Friday night with mainly cloudy skies and breezy conditions.
The low will become vertically stacked, meaning there’s a low at the surface and in the upper levels, which will cause the low to sit and spin just north of I-Falls. We’ll see cloudy skies, breezy SW winds and a chance of scattered rain and snow showers. Highs will only top out in the mid 30s to low 40s. Lows fall back into the upper 20s to mid 30s with a chance of rain and snow showers.
The low will finally start moving east, but we’ll still see cloudy skies, a breeze out of the NW and some scattered rain and snow showers. Highs remain chilly, in the upper 30s to low to mid 40s. Lows fall back into the upper 20s to mid 30s.
