Rochester Firefighters train at Lake Superior emergency facility

DULUTH, MN — Rochester firefighters are in Duluth today.. to take advantage of the world-class training facility at Lake Superior College.

5 new fire fighters joined the Rochester crew, and they’re still going through training.

The department heard about the facility at Lake Superior College and decided to drive up.

They can get hands on training, fighting real fire, learning to communicate and work as a team.

“It was great, honestly it was an honor to be here, it was a great experience. we found out we were going to do this about two months ago, and its pretty much been our focus ever since…today is actually our half way point of our academy so its the perfect peaking point for us in the middle of it. ” Brandon Vandermarliere, Rochester firefighter said.

This was the Rochester department’s first time in Duluth using the facility. They hope they can come back in the future.
