The potent low pressure system that brought the heavy rain and very strong winds Monday will continue to slowly drift northeast. We’ll see the backside of this system throughout the day, bringing with it more scattered rain showers and increasing winds once again. Winds trend W to NW around 10-25 mph with gusts up to 40-45 mph. Temperatures will begin in the 40s, but slowly fall into the mid 30s to low 40s by the afternoon. The falling temperatures could lead to some light wintry mix showers in spots this afternoon, but the precipitation should mostly stay as rain. Another 0.1″-0.5″ of rain will fall through tonight, but higher amounts are possible in spots.
The low will continue to move northeast, but skies remain cloudy and winds remain gusty. Some spotty wintry mix showers will linger throughout the night thanks to a wave in the jet stream. Winds trend W to NW around 5-15 mph, but 10-25 mph lakeside with higher gusts. Lows fall back into the low to mid 30s, with upper 30s lakeside.
Other some spotty snowflakes and drizzle, conditions should remain mostly dry with cloudy skies. Winds, however, remain breezy out of the WNW to NW around 5-15 mph, but 10-20 mph lakeside. It’ll be chilly, with highs in the upper 30s to low to mid 40s. The spotty flakes and drizzle will linger into Wednesday night, with cloudy skies. Lows fall back into the upper 20s to mid 30s with a NW wind around 5-15 mph.
The good news is that we’ll see a mix of clouds and sunshine heading into Thursday with calmer winds, but temperatures will be rather chilly still. Highs will only climb into the mid 30s to low 40s. We’ll see skies remain partly cloudy Thursday night with lows in the 20s.
Warmer air will move back in for most of the weekend. We’ll see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies Friday and Saturday with a breezy SW wind. A cold front overnight Saturday will increase the clouds and turn the winds back to the NW into Sunday. We’ll see highs in the mid 40s to low 50s Friday, low to upper 50s Saturday, but then falling back into the mid 40s Sunday.
