Pilot killed when Cirrus plane crashes into home

UPLAND, CA – A small plane crashed into a home in southern California Thursday, causing a massive fire and killing the pilot.

Two adults and a baby were in the house but amazingly got out without injury.

The pilot was the only person on the plane.

It wasn’t clear what caused the crash.

Authorities say a built-in safety parachute from the Cirrus SR-22 deployed and was seen draped over a nearby tree.

The crash happened in San Bernardino county, about a quarter mile from a private airport.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.

Cirrus is based in Duluth.
