DULUTH, MN — The halls are decked and the trees are lit at Glensheen Mansion.
Glensheen officials gave CBS 3 a sneak peek of the display Wednesday, which took second place in the 2018 USA Today’s contest for the Best Holiday Historic Home Tour.
Although the mansion is closed this week as staff decorates the 39 rooms, the Christmas tours will begin Friday, November 15.
Decorations include 25 Christmas trees, 25 hidden elves, piano music, hundreds of feet of garland, and Clara Congdon’s original shortbread cookie recipe, as well as her nativity collection.
“Christmas is a really special holiday for the Congdon family, the Congdon’s are the ones who lived in Glensheen mansion and Glensheen was a gathering place for them as a family during the holidays…We really like to celebrate Christmas in the spirit of the Congdons and its just a fabulous time to be at the mansion. ” Stated Jane Pederson, Marketing Manager
Glensheen Christmas tours will be held every day through Sunday, January 5.
