UPDATE: Two men were charged Friday in connection to a fentanyl overdose death in Duluth.

Dunn and Solomon Byrd Jr., 27, were each charged Friday with aiding and abetting murder in St. Louis County court in connection to an opioid overdose death in Duluth in September 2019.

In this case, court documents show a 25-year-old woman was found unresponsive at a downtown Duluth motel on September 18.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life saving measures, police said.

During a search of the hotel room court documents show law enforcement located a piece of burnt tin foil and another piece of tin foil containing a baggie with a substance, both of which later tested positive for fentanyl.

Through an investigation, law enforcement learned the victim had made arrangements to purchase heroin
from Dunn.

In an interview with police, Dunn admitted to facilitating the drug sale between the victim and Byrd.

Police interviewed the victim's mother after her death, during which they learned the victim's son's father had died of an opioid overdose seven days prior.

The victim's mother also told police that the victim and her boyfriend had been addicts while living in Washington State, but had moved to Superior after they became sober.

Friday morning, a judge set Dunn's bail at $100,000 and Byrd's bail at $150,000.

CBS 3 originally reported a third person was charged in the case, but has since learned the party was arrested as a result of the search warrant and charged with an unrelated crime.

One of the two men charged Friday in conenction to a fentanyl overdose death in Duluth has a connection to a 2014 murder case in Superior.

Dunn was also found not guilty in connection to the September 2014 murder of Garth Velin in Superior's Allouez neighborhood. Velin was shot in the chest during what authorities called a botched robbery that involved five suspects.

Dunn was charged with being a party to murder for his role in that crime, but was found not guilty in 2016.
