DULUTH, MN - A six-year-old Amur tiger now calls Lake Superior Zoo home.
Zoo officials introduced the 300-pound female Amur tiger, Taj, to the media on Monday.
She's getting acclimated to her new habitat. A sign on the glass asks visitors to give her space and refrain from making any loud noises as she adjusts.
Lake Superior Zoo staff say they hope she'll help create connections between zoo visitors and wildlife.
"As an Amur tiger, she represents her species as an ambassador to help create connections and foster empathy between visitors and this endangered big cat," zoo officials wrote on Facebook.
The zoo's former tiger, Lana, died last fall after suffering health complications.
