New Viking cruise to dock in Duluth, Bayfield by 2022

DULUTH, MN -- Duluth and the Apostles Islands are two stops on a new cruise featuring the Great Lakes.

The new route is part of Viking cruise line's expansion into the Great Lakes, Antarctica and the Arctic.

The first Viking cruise ship is expected to dock in Duluth and Bayfield in Spring of 2022.

It will be part of an international trip, which starts in Thunder Bay and ends in Milwaukee.

According to Viking's website, the ships expected to dock in Duluth and Bayfield can carry about 378 passengers.

Viking won't be the first cruise line to stop in Duluth. The Hanseatic Inspiration, which is owned by a German cruise ship company, will make two stops in the Twin Ports in spring 2020.
