Glensheen to hold first Fire Fest, burn wooden shark

DULUTH, MN-- Things will be heating up at Duluth's Glensheen Mansion come February.

Glensheen officials announced Friday that they're holding the first First Fest on February 15.

They say the event is aimed at celebrating northern Minnesota winters and embracing the cold by bringing the heat.

Along with bonfires, s'mores, and flaming drinks, and live music, Glensheen will also be lighting a giant wooden shark on fire.

Glensheen commissioned Joel Vikre, a local woodworker and owner of Vikre Distillery, to make the 24-foot long shark.

Vikre says it took him and a coworker about a week to build.
