Iron Range man held on attempted murder charge for ‘random’ shooting

MAKINEN, MN -- A Makinen man is being held behind bars on an attemped murder charge after allegedly shooting at someone from a vehicle.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report from a driver who was travelling on Townline Road in rural Makinen around 5 a.m. Monday when they claimed they were shot at by another driver.

The victim was not hit, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded to the area and located the suspect, who's vehicle matched the victim's description.

According to the sheriff's office the victim and the suspect did not know each other and this was a random act of violence.

The incident is under invesitgation.

Charges are expected to be filed Wednesday, according to the St. Louis County Attorney's Office.
