3 guns stolen in Virginia burglary, police searching for suspect

VIRGINIA, MN -- Authorities are looking for the person who allegedly broke into the Virginia Surplus Store and stole three guns early Tuesday morning.

An activated security alarm led police to respond to the store at 105 3rd Avenue North around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Virginia Police, officers learned the suspect broke in through an entrance.

The suspect was able to steal three firearms during the burglary and escaped before officers arrived.

According to Virginia's Police Chief Nicole Mattson, they do not have any survelliance video of the incident, so they're asking for the public to submit any information that could led them to the person responsible.

Mattson says they do not believe the public is in danger, but they are unsure of the suspect's intent.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Virginia Police Department during normal business hours at 218-748-7511. To speak with an officer after 4:30 p.m. or on the weekend, you're asked to call 911 and request to speak with a Virginia Officer.
