Duluth, Minn. -- Kiana Bender, Dana Jones and Taylor Nelson combined for three goals that ended up being all the Lumberjacks needed on Wednesday night. CEC topped Proctor/Hermantown 3-2 and will compete at the state tournament for the first time since 2009.

The regular season was one for the record books for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team.

The Lumberjacks won a program-best 17 games in a row and punched their ticket to the first section title game in 11 years.

CEC will now await seeding for who they will face next week at the Xcel Energy Center.
