DULUTH, MN-- Plans for direct Duluth to Denver flights will have to wait after the Duluth International Airport didn't win a recent Department of Transportation grant.
The grant funding would have helped make the connection possible.
Natalie Peterson, the Duluth Airport Authority's Director of Communications and Marketing, said of 57 applications, only 18 airports were awarded a share of $10 million.
Another grant cycle starts in the spring. Peterson says DLH officials plan to apply again.
"In order for the DAA and DLH to move forward with a future grant application request, they will need the continued support of their regional partners," DLH officials shared in a news release. "If you’re interested in lending your support — either through a written letter of support, financial pledge to the local match, or both — contact the Duluth Airport Authority at DAA@duluthairport.com."
