Cooler temps, flurries, lake effect snow showers

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

TODAY: High pressure continues to sit to our north, bringing in some colder air to the region. We'll see mostly cloudy skies and some flurries and lake effect snow showers for the South Shore. Some lake effect is possible here in the Twin Ports as well. Winds trend N to NNW at 4-12 mph. Highs are in the upper teens to mid 20s, which will be about 10 degrees below average.

South Shore Snow, RPM Model

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly cloudy to cloudy, but some breaks in the clouds are possible in spots. Light snow showers will continue for the U.P. and South Shore. Winds trend light to calm out of the N and NNW. Lows fall back mostly into the single digits above, but dropping below zero north.

THURSDAY: We'll start to see some clearing with skies becoming partly cloudy, but some flurries will linger for the U.P. and Snowbelt. Winds will remain light out of the N and NW generally less than 10 mph. It'll be the coldest day of the 7-Day, with highs in the teens to low 20s.

THURSDAY NIGHT: We'll see mostly clear to partly cloudy skies as higher pressure to our north settles in. Winds will be light to calm with lows in the single digits above and below zero, but some areas north could see teens below.

SNOWFALL TOTALS: The Twin Ports could see up to a 1/2" of snow, but 1-3" seems likely for the U.P. and South Shore.

FRIDAY: The high pressure will bring us mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures. Highs get back into the low to mid 20s. Clouds increase Friday night as an upper level wave approaches, along with a warm front. This could bring a chance for some flurries. Lows fall back into the single digits and teens.

WEEKEND: Some flurries may linger into Saturday morning, but accumulations will be very minimal, if any at all. Otherwise, skies will be partly cloudy for most of the weekend, with more clouds Sunday afternoon. A more southerly flow takes over, boosting highs into the upper 20s to mid 30s Saturday, but into the mid 30s to near 40 for Sunday.

THROUGH MIDWEEK: A weak system could bring a slight wintry mix chance Monday, otherwise looking at mostly cloudy skies. We'll see partly cloudy skies Tuesday and partly sunny skies Wednesday. Highs remain mild, in the mid 30s to low 40s. Lows are in the 20s.
