Cook County tells visitors to stay home, Grand Marais grocers take business curbside

GRAND MARAIS, MN -- Cook County issued a travel advisory Wednesday in response to concerns surrounding the spread of COVID-19.

The county is asking visitors who have seasonal homes in the county to stay home.

Grocery stores in Grand Marais, meanwhile, are now providing curbside pick up and deliveries only amid virus concerns.

That decision by Gene's IGA, Johnson's Foods and Cook County Whole Foods Cooperative went into effect Wednesday.

Community members can now call or email orders and the stores will schedule a time for pickup.

The grocery stores are looking for community volunteers to lend a hand.

Also in response to the outbreak, the Grand Marais City Council voted last week to close the town's municipal liquor store.
