From Hermantown, Minnesota to the NHL… Dylan Samberg to join Neal Pionk on Jets

DULUTH, MN-- Another Hermantown native is heading to the professional level.

UMD Defenseman Dylan Samberg has officially signed with the Winnipeg Jets, opting to forgo his final year of eligibility as a Bulldog.

The Jets announced they're signing the 21 year old to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $1,175,000. Samberg's three-year deal will begin next season.

Samberg joins fellow Hermantown-native Neal Pionk up there in Winnipeg.

"When I was growing up, I think I was in high school when Drew LeBlanc made his NHL debut so I kind of looked up to him and then guys came through the college ranks, guys like Adam Krause. Maybe the chain effect will keep happening. Hopefully Dylan and I are on the Jets together next year and hopefully someone on this year's bantams or high school are saying hey I wanna be the next one," said Pionk.
