DULUTH, MN-- Ashley Grimm has secured the MN Senate District 7 DFL endorsement for District 3 St. Louis County Commissioner.
This endorsement comes after the first-ever electronic virtual convention was completed after a 2 week balloting period which ended Friday, May 8th
Grimm received 69% of the delegates' votes and 29% going to former Duluth City Council President, Noah Hobbs. 4 of the 89 delegates that voted for 3rd District St. Louis County Commissioner voted no endorsement and 1 abstained.
“It is such an honor to receive the DFL endorsement, and I am proud to have the support of our district’s delegates, in addition to AFSCME Council 5. It is the result of hard work and a great team dedicated to Western Duluth. At this critical time, we need representatives experienced in community-led transparent policy building and program management to help us lead effective county programs, even with potentially reduced budgets," said Grimm in a release Sunday.
Grimm is a West Duluth homeowner, manages the family and employment programming at the Damiano
Center and serves as the Vice-Chair of the City of Duluth’s Human Rights Commission.
Grimm's opponent, Noah Hobbs, applauded the DFL volunteers for their time and adapting to a new process during this pandemic.
"I've always been a supporter of more open and transparent elections and don't believe that 60 people should determine the outcome for the 14,000 voters in the general election for a nonpartisan race," Hobbs said.
