Crews fighting fire at Eveleth apartment building

UPDATE: The fire is now out.

The apartment manager tells us 17-20 residents have been displaced.

All residents made it out safely.


UPDATE: As of 8:40 p.m., several fire departments were still battling flames at Countryside Apartments in Eveleth.

Crews on scene confirm it was a grease fire that spread to the rest of the building, causing serious damage.

Everyone inside made it out safely.

We're told about a dozen residents are without a home.

Red Cross will be assisting those residents, but are not able to be on scene right now due to COVID-19 protocol.

Crews from Eveleth, Fayal, Mountain Iron, Virginia, Hibbing, Gilbert, Biwabik, Biwabik Township, and Central Lakes helped with the firefight.

We have a crew on scene, and will have a report from the scene on the CBS 3 News at 10.


EVELETH, MN -- Crews are fighting a fire at an Eveleth apartment building Wednesday night.

According to Eveleth EMS officials, the structure fire broke out around 6:50 p.m. They could not confirm the address but said it is a building on the west side of town.

EMS officials did not know if anyone was injured, or if the building has been evacuated.

CBS 3 has a crew on their way to the scene. We'll bring you the latest on CBS 3 at 10 p.m.
