SAWYER CO., WI -- Sawyer County Sheriff's Office officials say there's still water sitting over a roadway after a dam failed near Hayward Wednesday afternoon.
Crews responded to a failed dam on the Mosquito Brook Flowage near the town of Lenroot after a flood was reported around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Sawyer County officials say a portion of Porkys Road remains flooded as of 3 p.m. Thursday. Water levels are expected to fall later Thursday night.
According to the County, eight residents along the road were warned Wednesday afternoon that they could be stuck in their homes for a couple of days once the water reached the roadway.
Lenroot officials are in charge of any repairs to the damaged roadways.
The Hayward region saw nearly three inches of rain Tuesday night.
