I-35 back open in Duluth Saturday after protesters block traffic

UPDATE -- Interstate-35 is back open in both directions in Duluth as of 8:18 p.m. Saturday after protestors stopped traffic Saturday.

A Duluth Police spokesperson confirmed the opening.


Duluth, MN-- Around 6 p.m. on Saturday protesters moved onto I-35 near Mesaba Avenue.

The assembly of protesters is causing traffic to backup on the freeway.

Police are trying to re-direct traffic.

According to the Duluth Police Department, they have had to use some of their new riot gear for the first time. Gear being used includes face masks and helmets.
