CLEVELAND, OH -- About two and a half months after announcing a temporary shutdown Cleveland-Cliffs shared some positive news regarding a major project Tuesday.
In March, the company announced the construction of its HBI facility in Toledo, Ohio would be temporarily shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, Cleveland-Cliffs is bringing its workforce back in hopes of getting the project back on track and completed by the end of 2020.
The company also announced the restart of its Tilden mining operations in Michigan.
The pandemic also forced the company to layoff workers at Northshore Mining in Silver Bay and Babbitt impacting nearly 500 employees.
Cliffs officials told CBS 3 they plan to restart the Northshore locations by August of 2020.
