SUPERIOR, WI -- A Superior police officer has started an initiative to improve community relations with police officers in the wake of George Floyd's death.

At an event Friday at Superior's Tower Fit, Superior police greeted visitors who wished to ask questions and get to know their local law enforcement.

Ronald Robinson, a patrol officer, created 'Bridge the Gap' after witnessing a disconnect between citizens and law enforcement.

Robinson began planning meet-and-greets as a way for people to get to know their local police and create a better relationship between the two.

"If we don't inspire actual change or change how we do our job for the better for the citizens, then it's kind of a failure, so the ultimate goal is to actually have change, but it starts with the communication," said Robinson.

The event also collected donations for The Ruth House.

Robinson asks citizens to be on the look out for more events throughout the summer.
