Ashland Police deploy K-9 on man who fled after pointing gun at vehicle

ASHLAND, WI - Ashland police have arrested a man suspected of pointing a handgun at individuals familiar with the suspect Thursday.

Around 3:43 p.m., police responded to reports of a man pointing a pistol at another man's vehicle.

The caller's adult girlfriend and one-year-old child were also inside the vehicle parked at his residence.

Police said the adult male suspect walked up to the vehicle and pointed a handgun at him, continuing to point the gun as the caller drove away.

The caller knew and identified the suspect to Ashland police.

Shortly after, a K9 Officer located the suspect outside another residence in Ashland.

Police say the suspect became uncooperative after a handgun was suspected in his wasitband.

The male then broke away and started to flee.

The K9 was stopped the suspect who resisted with the K9 and Officers but was eventually handcuffed.

According to police, a small caliber handgun was found in the suspect’s pants.

After hospital treatment for the K9 bite, the male was booked into jail.

Formal charges are pending.
