Duo arrested after crashing stolen vehicle, fleeing in Hermantown

HERMANTOWN, MN -- Two people are behind bars for their alleged role in crashing a stolen vehicle and fleeing in Hermantown Monday night.

Police say they responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart at about 6:30 p.m.

When they arrived, authorities say the two adult males fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Police pursued, but had to call it off due to safety concerns.

A short while later the duo crashed into a utility box near the intersection of Maple Grove Road and Stebner Road.

They fled and were later apprehended with the help of a K-9 and residents.

Police say they were both on heroin.

The two were treated for minor injuries.

Pending charges include possessing a stolen vehicle, damage to property and fleeing, among other things.
