ST. PAUL, MN -- A new task force is being formed to address skyrocketing gun violence and violent crime in the Twin Cities.
U.S attorney for Minnesota, Erika MacDonald, made the announcement Friday.
The task force brings together federal and state resources to assist local law enforcement to investigate, arrest, and prosecute individuals responsible for the spike in crime.
Authorities say a total of 94 illegal firearms have been taken off the streets and 15 people have been charged with federal firearms violations in recent weeks.
The task force will be operational for at least 30 days.
