State authorities investigating officer-involved shooting in Duluth

DULUTH, MN -- State authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday night just before 9:30 p.m in Downtown Duluth.

Duluth Police say officers responded to the area of North 1st Avenue West and West 1st Street on the report of a physical domestic.

At one point, an officer fired their weapon, striking the suspect in the shoulder area, police said in a news release issued Sunday morning.

The suspect was hospitalized and then booked into St. Louis County Jail on a preliminary charge of Domestic Assault. Sunday morning police said the suspect would not be charged with Domestic Assault.

No officers were hurt in the incident, police said.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation, police said.
