DULUTH, Minn. -- Don't tell the Duluth Denfeld boys soccer team that they came into the section 7A playoffs as the eight seed.
The Hunters are riding an impressive playoff run with a senior-heavy roster. They took down 9-seed Hermantown in their first round matchup by a score of 4-0.
In the quarterfinals, they handed previously unbeaten and top seed Cloquet-Esko-Carlton their first loss of the season, 1-0. Owen Wilcox played hero for Denfeld with a laser of a goal off his right foot with seven minutes remaining.
In the semifinals, the Hunters cruised past Grand Rapids, scoring five goals on a snowy night at Public Schools Stadium. They advance to take on Princeton in the 7A finals. For the section 7A boys bracket, click here.
In section 7AA, Duluth East has earned wins over Anoka (4-3) and Andover (6-3) to advance to the section title game. The Greyhounds will host Centennial on Thursday, October 22 for the 7AA title.
