Grand Rapids: Area farmers market calling it quits for the season
Starting off in Grand Rapids where the area farmers market is calling it quits for the season as early winter weather begins to move in. This Saturday will be the final day for the market.
Virginia: School principal tests positive for COVID
Now heading to Virginia where a faculty member for the Marquette Catholic School has tested positive for COVID-19. Principal Lisa Kvas as well as at least one student were announced to be positive with the virus in an email sent to families on Monday. Principal Kvas has not been on campus since October 11th. The school is scheduled to be cleaned and classes will continue as normal. Kvas will self quarantine per MDH guidelines.
Bayfield: Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race canceled
And finally we'll finish off in Bayfield where the the 26th annual Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race has been canceled due to COVID-19. The race was scheduled for the first weekend of February and is a massive economic boost for the area with more than 1,000 people often showing up to cheer on the mushers. Bayfield Chamber officials say the decision to cancel the staple event was a difficult one to make.
