Coleraine: Itasca Ski Club honors coach of the year

Starting things off in Coleraine where the Itasca Ski Club and the USA Nordic Association is honoring a senior member for her continued devotion and work in the alpine industry. Susan Kavanagh has been honored as coach of the year by the association. Susan is a level 100 certified ski jumping coach and has received the award for her work with junior jumpers and athletes as well as her commitment to the Itasca Ski Club.

Eveleth and Gilbert: Fall snow won't derail reconstruction

Now heading out to Eveleth and Gilbert where the reconstruction of Highway 37 is still on track despite early snowfalls. Engineers with the department of transportation said the project will still meet its target completion date for 2020. The entire project, which has cost 6.5-million dollars is expected to be wrapped up by next October. The project got a late start, beginning last July. According to project managers, that was because funding was not available until that date.

Ashland: Bretting community center closed due to COVID exposure

And finally we'll finish off in Ashland where the Bretting community center is closed following a positive COVID test was confirmed there. The department of health confirmed the positive test of a staff member at the center but could not release the identity due to privacy concerns. Gymnastics classes have been put on hold and parents have been notified. A date has not been released on when the center could reopen.
