Red curtains down, holiday displays up on Superior Street

DULUTH, MN-- The red curtains are now down and the holiday decorations are up on Superior Street.

The curtains came down Friday, showing the different displays.

People can check them out and vote on their favorites to win prizes.

Organizers say the goal is to get more people shopping local.

DULUTH, MN-- Today you may start to notice red curtains going up in Duluth storefronts. This is a sign that the Northland is officially kicking off the holiday shopping season!

November 16, the annual Storefront Window Display and Lighting contest presented by the Greater Downtown Council will begin.

Duluth businesses will hang red curtains in their windows to hide assembly work in preparation for the holidays.

The unveiling will be on Friday, prior to the Christmas City of the North Parade.

Visitors to the Downtown Waterfront area can vote on their favorite holiday window display for a chance to win items from downtown merchants.
