Chisholm: Precious Paws Christmas Tree at Jubilee

For several years now, Jubilee, the local grocery store in Chisholm has allowed Precious Paws Humane Society to put up a tree in their store during the month of December. It’s an “angel tree” for animals at the shelter and it’s filled with ornaments with requests written on them for items needed at the shelter. That includes cat litter, kitten chow, laundry detergent, and much more. Jubilee is located right off of the main street in downtown Chisholm if you’d like to stop and see what’s needed.

Grand Rapids: Itasca County Sheriff's "fill the boat" toy drive

When you think of the holidays, you probably think of toys! While many are able to enjoy this time of year, it isn’t that simple for some. The Itasca County Sheriff’s Department is hoping to change that. The Department is holding a fill the boat toy drive Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They were accepting toys Friday as well from noon to 5 p.m. They’re asking those who are able to help bring joy to children up to age 17. You can drop off your donation at the Itasca County Courthouse parking lot.

Bayfield: Santa to host a COVID-safe meet and greet

And finally, in Bayfield, Christmas might still be a few weeks away but Santa has sent word that he’ll be on the Pier Plaza Restaurant deck Saturday from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.! All local children and their families are invited to drive by and receive a special greeting from the big guy himself. Cars can line up along Rittenhouse Avenue in front of the restaurant and take turns with a slow “drive-by” of Santa to say hello. Children are encouraged to drop off their wish lists and receive a small treat bag while supplies last.
