Walz will call on Minnesotans to ‘come together to restore democracy’ in visit to Wasioja

Minnesota's governor will be in Dodge County on Wednesday.

WASIOJA, Minn. (KTTC) — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is calling for calm, civility and peace in the wake of last week’s riots at the U.S. Capitol.

The governor is visiting American history monuments across the state this week. According to a news release, Walz will use the trip to encourage Minnesotans to reflect on the “greater context” that led to this “dark moment in history.”

After a stop in St. Paul on Tuesday, the governor will travel to Dodge County on Wednesday. He will visit the Wasioja Historic District around 2 p.m.

According to the release, the governor “will urge Minnesotans to reflect on how divisive rhetoric undermined our democratic institutions over time.”

He will also ask Minnesotans to “come together to restore democracy for all.”
