DULUTH, MN -- Duluth legislators held a virtual town hall meeting Saturday to discuss the 2021 legislative session.

Rep. Jen Schultz, Rep. Liz Olson, and Sen. Jen McEwen answered questions from community members and shared goals for the upcoming session.

The town hall was nonpartisan and everyone in the community was welcome.

Lawmakers discussed topics like redistricting, automatic voter registration, and adult recreational marijuana.

At the top of their priorities this session is dealing with the pandemic.

"We unveiled our priorities right away at the beginning of session which really had to do with overcoming COVID," Rep. Olson said. "From everything we know when we started this session, the needs we had that were urgent didn't just go away."

COVID-19 vaccine distribution was a big area of concern among the community.

Rep. Schultz said it has been difficult responding to the pandemic with a divided legislature, but she is confident vaccine distribution will improve under the Biden administration.

The legislatures are hoping to host another town hall in March.
