Sheriff: 3 dead in gun store shooting in New Orleans suburb

METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Authorities say a person entered a gun store in a suburb of New Orleans and fatally shot two people before he was fired upon and died.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says customers and staff at the store opened fire on the shooter Saturday afternoon and the shooter was confirmed dead.

Lopinto says two other people were shot and wounded. 4

The shooting occurred at a gun store in Metairie with a shooting range.

A man taking a concealed weapons course there, Tyrone Russell, said he heard shots and screaming and hid.

He said broken glass and bullet casings were strewn about the store, calling it “a really scary scene.”
