Woods faces hard recovery from serious injuries in car crash

LOS ANGELES (AP) --Authorities say golf star Tiger Woods was seriously injured when his SUV crashed into a median and rolled over several times on a steep road in suburban Los Angeles.

Harbor-UCLA Medical Center's chief medical officer says Woods shattered tibia and fibula bones on his right leg in multiple locations, with additional injuries in the ankle and foot.

A statement on his Twitter account says he was awake, responsive and recovering.

Authorities had to extricate Woods through the front windshield

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say there’s no immediate evidence that Tiger Woods was impaired in a car crash that seriously injured both of the golfer’s legs.

At a news conference, the police chief and fire chief of Los Angeles County didn’t answer follow-up questions on how they know he wasn’t impaired or how fast he was driving.

Weather was not a factor in the crash.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva and Fire Chief Daryl Osby say Woods was conscious and able to communicate when authorities arrived to pry him from an SUV after a rollover crash Tuesday.

He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities and Tiger Woods' manager say the golf star has suffered leg injuries in a vehicle rollover in suburban Los Angeles and is undergoing surgery.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says Woods was alone in the vehicle and had to be extricated from it Tuesday.

No other cars were involved in the wreck that injured the golfer.

Authorities say an ambulance took Woods to a hospital in serious condition.

Woods was in Los Angeles over the weekend as the tournament host of the Genesis Invitational at Riviera.

(WSIL) — Tiger Woods was injured Tuesday during a single vehicle crash in Los Angeles County, California.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said around 7:20 a.m. Woods’ was driving north when his vehicle crashed.

Woods was extricated from the vehicle with the “jaws of life” and taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
