UPDATE: DECC interim leader Roger Reinert steps down, executive director position still open

The DECC is looking for a new interim leader.

Former state lawmaker and Duluth City Councilor Roger Reinert says he plans to step down at the end of May.

Reinert has filled in as interim leader since August.

Between leading the organization during the pandemic, being a part of a COVID task force in Italy, serving in Afghanistan, and other life changes over the last three years, Reinert says he needs to reflect and refocus this summer.

The DECC's Board appointed Reinert after Chelly Townsend moved out of the executive director job.

No word yet on when a new interim leader will be chosen.

The search for a permanent replacement also continues.

DULUTH, MN-- The DECC has announced they are officially looking for their next Executive Director.

Roger Reinert has been serving in the role on an interim basis.

The DECC has hired an outside firm to conduct a national search.

DECC leaders said they are looking for someone who's both creative and innovative.

There's no timeline on when the Executive Director will be hired.
