TONIGHT: Join the conversation for faster, cheaper internet in Superior

SUPERIOR, WI-- Those seeking answers about a proposal that could bring faster cheaper internet to Superior are urged to attend the Connect Superior listening session Monday.

This is the second listening session, the first one was held back in April.

Connect Superior would end what's currently an internet company monopoly and move to a localized fiber connection.

The city's mayor says it would mean residents could choose from a handful of competing providers. He is asking for input from citizens.

The goals of the city for this project include the following:

  1. Lower the cost of internet access by 30% for residents and businesses.
  2. Significantly increase the speed and reliability of internet access.
  3. Increase competition and give residents multiple options for ISPs on demand in real time.
  4. Build a state-of-the-art network that will improve economic development and foster
    innovation.
  5. Leverage the network to improve the services provided in the city including public safety,
transportation, healthcare, education, emergency communications, and new services that
will become possible with advanced network infrastructure.

That virtual listening session is Monday, May 3, at 7 p.m.
