DULUTH, MN -- In honor of Bob Dylan's 80th birthday later this month, plans are in the works to celebrate the musician all year long.

St. Louis County Board of Commissioners declared May 24, 2021, through May 24, 2022, as the "Year of Dylan."

There are several virtual and in-person Dylan-themed events planned for the Year of Dylan.

The famous musician was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth and grew up in Hibbing.

A large public art tribute is planned for Hibbing High School where Dylan graduated in 1959.

Duluth Dylan Fest Committee Member Zane Bail hopes it aids in tourism and honors the musician's roots in the Northland.

"We're ready to launch this Year of Dylan, and it's going to be bookended by the 2021 and 2022 Duluth Dylan Fest."

This year Duluth Dylan Fest runs from May 22-30.

Event organizers are looking for local companies to partner with them to host events throughout the year.
