Police searching for Cloquet man involved in 2 shootings overnight; considered armed, dangerous

CLOQUET, MN-- Police are looking for a Cloquet man involved in two shootings that happened shortly after midnight on Monday morning.

Officers responded to the first shooting at 227 Scotty Drive in Cloquet around midnight on May 17. Reports say no one was injured.

Later that night a second shooting was reported at 973 Ozhigaw Road in Cloquet where police found a 27-year-old male from Cloquet with a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was brought to a local hospital in Duluth.

Police have identified the suspect in connection with both shootings.

They have issued an arrest warrant for 26-year-old Nicholas Joseph Ammesmaki for 1st Degree Assault-Great Bodily Harm and Possesses any type of firearm/ammo-Crime of Violence-ineligible.

According to the report, Ammesmaki was last seen leaving the scene in a 2003 silver Pontiac Bonneville with MN license DWL944.

If you know any information about Ammesmaki's whereabouts you are asked to call 911.

Ammesmaki is considered armed and dangerous.
