HERMANTOWN, MN-- With little to no rain, the low lake levels have been keeping local boat repair shops busy this summer.
In Hermantown, a propeller shop has seen a particular influx in business due to this issue.
The unusually low water levels increase a boat's chances of scraping the bottom of a lake which causes damage from rocks or stumps, to their propellers.
Prop Shop company rep, Alayna Scheall, thinks this trend will continue as the warm weather and low water levels stick around this summer.
"I think we are sitting at about 2,000 repairs already and we opened up April 1st this year," Scheall said.
The Prop Shop doesn't see business slowing down anytime soon.
