Chisholm, MN- The Redhead Mountain Bike Park will be host to a series of races October 9-10. Various middle and high school teams will be competing from across the state. The main entrance will be closed to the public for the remainder of the weekend, but a shuttle will provide rides to the other entrances for visitors. Babbitt, MN- The community is getting together and hitting the trails this weekend. The 4th annual ATV ride "The Black Sheep Run" will start Saturday, October 9 at 10 a.m. All riders will meet at the softball fields across from the Hideaway on Highway 70. Lunch will be provided afterward. Registration is $25 and all proceeds will go to the local Special Olympics, "Team Virginia, Road Runners." Guides will include the Prospector Loop and Babbitt ATV Club.

Hibbing, MN- Hibbing Community College is hosting an event tonight naming some of its buildings and community spaces. 14 locations around campus will be named after local community members who made impacts in their respective fields. One of the honorees is Veda Ponikvar, a Chisholm native who attended Drake University's journalism school before returning to the community in 1946 to found the Chisholm Free Press newspaper. She then spent over 50 years as the community's journalist.
