Virginia man charged after alleged armed robbery in Eveleth

EVELETH, MN– A Virginia man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery in Eveleth Saturday.

According to court records, Bobby Joe Dobbins, 28, was charged with first degree aggravated robbery and second degree assault in St. Louis County Court Tuesday.

Eveleth Police say they responded to a report of an armed robbery around 6:20 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Adams Avenue.

Charles Lister, of Grand Rapids, reported that he had been at a friend’s apartment when Dobbins arrived.

When the friend left to do laundry, Dobbins allegedly pulled out a handgun and put it to the back of Lister’s head and ordered him to get on the ground.

According to court records, Dobbins allegedly took Lister’s wallet, $1,300 in cash and checks, drugs, and a cell phone.

Police say Dobbins then fled the apartment building. He was arrested in Hibbing.

A judge set his bail at $25,000. He’ll be back in court June 17.
