Man who allegedly fled police in Lincoln Park charged

DULUTH, MN– A Duluth man has been charged after allegedly running from police while they were executing an arrest warrant.

According to the Duluth Police, Erik Walbridge, 35, has been charged with several counts, including:

Fleeing a police officer
Ostructing the legal process
Posessing meth
Carrying a weapon/gun in a public place

Police say they were attempting to pick up Walbridge on a felony domestic assault and burglary warrant around 2:15 p.m. on July 30 in the area of 27th Avenue West and Michigan Street.

Walbridge apparently ran from the officers despite multiple orders to stop and threats of being tased.

During the chase, investigators say Walbridge apparently threw aside what police thought to be a handgun.

Police eventually tased Walbridge and took him into custody.

Walbridge was medically cleared at the hospital, and is now being held at the St. Louis County Jail.

Investigators later recovered the handgun, which they found to be a BB style replica handgun.

During a search incident to arrest Walbridge, investigators say they also recovered methamphetamine.

A judge set Walbridge’s bail at $30,000.
