Former Ashland police officer charged for allegedly stealing car

ASHLAND, WI– Charges have been filed against a former Ashland Police officer accused of stealing a car.

Ty Juoni was charged August 23 with driving or operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

According to court records, he allegedly drove off in a vehicle parked in someone’s driveway in the early morning hours of April 28.

The vehicle was later found parked at a Kwik Trip convenience store nearby the vehicle’s owner’s home, undamaged with a beer bottle inside.

Juoni later told authorities that he was out drinking that night but didn’t remember taking the car or leaving the bar. He also told authorities that he woke up in an alley the next morning.

Juoni was placed on leave shortly after the incident, and later retired from the police department after 18 years.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation.
